8-22-09 Trash and Treasure Days

Saturday, August 22 was the annual North Warren VFD Trash and Treasure Sales. The NWVFD hosts a Chicken BBQ in which the proceeds benefit the fire department. Members of the fire department cooked chickens and made up meals that were sold to the public. North Warren even had support from local volunteer firefighters from around the area who came to enjoy a dinner.Special thanks to Steve Strain for preparing his popular BBQ ribs and pulled pork sandwiches.

8-11-09 MVA Rt 62 and Hatch Run

While an engine crew was located in Pittsfield at the Warren County Fair, North Warren VFD was tripped for a MVA at the intersection of Rt. 62 and Hatch Run. C-2 (Riggle) had command with the Rescue, Engine 7, and U12 responding. Upon arrival firefighters found 4 vehicles involved, all with severe damage and one on its roof. All patients were self extricated and were transported to WGH by City Ambulance, Emergycare, and Russell VFD. North Warren Firefighters were on scene to complete an extensive debris cleanup.

8-10-09 Weather Related

North Warren was dispatched to assist local businesses Community Eye Care and Dairy Queen for flooding. Crews sand bagged and stood by until the water receded then helped with some cleanup. Heavy rains filled the Conewango and Jackson Run causing severe flooding in the Warren area. Glade VFD, Lander VFD and Russell VFD were out for Monday several weather related service calls as well.

8-6-09 Vehicle into a Structure

Thursday, August 6 North Warren Firefighters working at the station were tapped out for a motor vehicle accident-vehicle into a structure. A half ton pickup traveling down Follett Run lost its brakes and traveled through the intersection of Rt. 62 and Follett. The pickup continued through Big Joe’s trellis, crossed the Bike Hike Trail and coming to rest in a field behind Big Joe’s. One person was transported to WGH. The truck was stabilized while the battery disconnected. The patient was stabilized and packaged for transport.

8-11-09 Warren County Fair Coverage

An engine crew was on standby Tuesday August 11 from 2 to 10pm for the Warren County Fair. North Warren’s coverage of the Fair this year was uneventful. A couple of the guys watched the fireman’s water battle held in the motor sports arena.

August 3, 2009 Day Shift MVA

9:41 North Warren VFD was dispatched for a motor vehilce accident at the intersection of Rt. 62 and Plumber St. One occupant refused treatment. North Warren Fire Police directed traffic while Firefighters cleaned the debris. Crews returned in service by 10:30
